Remington Gets His Collar Back

Several weeks ago we came down route 38 from Big Bear. The wife wanted to do some geocaching out in the river wash area across from the Ranger Station in Mentone. Ever the dutiful husband I obliged along with my step son, his fiancee their yellow lab plus our two English Springers. The area is filled with brush, river rock, trails and jeep roads. Also a ton of shot gun shells out there as apparently it's a good area for quail. In fact we bumped into a guy working quail with his dog.

Ever the trained geocache finder, I stumbled on an electronic dog training collar. It had the name Remington Pete, a phone number and address on it. I called the number and it was disconnected. We took the collar with us and the wife dropped a letter in the mail to the address telling the recipient we had found the dog collar. Well in short order we got a call from Pete. The collar was for his German Short Hair Pointer "Remington". He was a broke contractor and could not pay his cell phone bill and also cover Xmas presents. He was very pleased we had found the collar which he sorely needs to keep his very active German Short Hair Pointer in line while hunting. So about two weeks later we were finally going back to Big Bear and made arrangements to meet Pete and deliver Remington's collar. We made the rendezvous and Pete was very grateful. Turns out he has a cabinet shop and we will probably use him for a couple bathroom vanities and maybe new kitchen cabinets. So many some good kharma coming my way in '09.
