Damn Santa Anas......

They were supposed to hit early Sunday, and be gone Tuesday afternoon. I am planning on hitting the hill Wed. morning, so figured I was in the clear....

So, Sun morning, dead calm, no wind. Sunday evening, dead calm, no wind. Check the weather, and the "Red flag warning" was pushed off till tomorrow though Wed. night at 10 PM.... However, I look at the hourly forecast, and it shoiws only 4 MPH winds. Yesterday, it said 27 MPH winds. I like the cold, but I might get knocked out of the treestand in 27 MPH winds....

Still gonna try something though, as I don't get alot of days to hunt.... Hoping for the 4 MPH....

Yeah, half the reason that I didn't hunt yesterday morning was the forecasted high winds. With that said though...I killed my first deer last year in some gusty/cold winds. I was told that the temp up there was 32 degrees in the morning over the weekend up there!

I was up there this morning and it was definitely blowing (and pretty cold). {We went to check a water spot and it was frozen over!} Good news though, I saw my first buck (and 3 doe)! A nice BIG forkie almost out to its ears and pretty tall. Unfortunately it saw me first.

I actually saw 2 bucks, the first was a little dink that crossed the road in front of us on the drive up.

I saw 32 on saturday with gusty winds out of the west. It was 30 when I left the truck on sunday and the wind couldnt make it's mind up. It was blowing all directions in the morning. It's nice hunting in cold weather again. I dont like sweating at 5:30am while sitting in the dark.
