I was scouting off 395 /Ridgecrest/ Lake Isabella area. Watering holes are at a premium and the quail are very concentrated around them. The usual spots have water and looked over some spots that sometimes have water and found none = no birds. It's going to be one of those very crowded years with the birds all bunched up in the obvious spots and refusing to leave due to the lack of water. Only rain can help spread them out. Don't shoot me Louie!
All packed up and ready to go late fri night. Mike and I are off to our spot in the sierras above isabella. We are camping till sun. I saw a number of large coveys a few weeks ago while hunting Mountain Quail. Large coveys arounds the usual watering holes but like some have said it will be a ZOO! Good luck everyone! I will report on mon then leaving on fri for PV.
