Almost all of Wister is shallow...Look at the watermap at checking station for updated info when you arrive....It's the big board to the left of the office...

Most of Wister is very shallow but the mud is bad. Hazard can have some kinda deep water and the reservoirs can be deep but most areas are shallow. Where did you hunt from? Anyway- Opening day will be VERY crowded and if you don't have a reservation you may not get on. Ask Carl about his opening day draws. 99th and 105th the last two years I think. Ouch! We did get on with a friend who had a ressie and pounded the mallards so it worked out.

Looks like it might be like a couple years ago out at Wister. Extended weather report says high nineties. Take your breathable waders. You will DIE in neoprene. Gotta love triple digit temperature so cal spoonie huntin.
I think i'll go hunt chuckar and quail til I get a ressie. Good luck guys

In the sweatline.Had limits of ducks and 5 whitefronts for 4 in like 15 min.Lucky to get on at all..Much less have that area fall through the cracks to us...In the future I probably won't go for the opener without a resi..Or at least a friend to get on with, if me and Jon get our usual last in the sweatline..

Yikes Carl, I'd rather drive the Valley jumping birds than sit out the opener sweatline!! Shit, I'll go shoot pidgeons before that sweat!!

Ah I forgot the sweat is the night before. I haven't done it. (I'm an asshole and got 7 draws last year )
If I did sweat it and got a shitty number at 10pm, I'd be sleeping in Sat and and jumping birds during the day!!

I would dude, but the Navy has Exiled me in Hawaii for three years. The only ducks and geese here are on the Endangered Species List...
I think I'm only going to get to hunt ducks once this season and that's still a maybe...
