I don't know. But, it gets poached all the time. More deer in that area than anywhere in the entire county. Pisses me off. Fukin' poachers.

It was years ago, but when I lived in Tierrasanta, I was driving home after the graveyard shift. I saw a nice 4x4 crossing Tierrasanta Blvd. right at the deer xing sign. Big, dark brown and beautiful. I've never seen one bigger in SD. During the same time frame, I used to go out to the GD missle plant out in Sycamore Canyon, used to see large herds of deer out there!
Driving on the 52 west bound, that last draw prior to the summit, I often think to myself how much I'd like to head north up that draw in quest of a Muley , you could only get away with a bow.....not that I would.

Or atleast that's what I thought. Crazy part is that the taxidermist was almost endorsing it...who also happens to teach hunter safety classes? His exact words were "as long as you don't get caught." Guess he doesn't teach ethics or the law either.

Growing up in Tierrasanta I have seen some huge bucks in the canyon's North of 52 and west of Clairemont Mesa Blvd. You'd have to be pretty sneaky to hunt in those area's though. IMHO it's not worth getting rolled on.

That was some thirsty work and I was too hasty to make another beer run. |

Guess he doesn't teach ethics or the law either. | The only way it could be legal is if there are some private holdings in the county of San Diego, I believe it's all city of San Diego,Miramar naval station and mission trails park. I hunted doves for alot of years on a friends 8 acre partcial with existing homes on one side and new tract homes on the other, it got to a point were we would call the sheriff's dept to let them know we were hunting doves on that day, they were hounded with phone calls every time we hunted, the dfg would stop by from time to time to check us out also. he held out for years and finally sold to a developer a few years ago.damn! their are loopholes, BLM land, government land that is not military and county private property.
oh and don't forget those big ass urban golf course deer!

I know it's a different area but I drew an archery bull elk tag that allowed me to hunt within the city limits of Flagstaff, Arizona. The elk had got out of control within the city so a season was opened on them, archery gear only of course. There were elk on the golf courses and in peoples front yards. Every tree and shrub in peoples yards had chicken wire around it 8 feet high. A few of the big bulls had got aggressive with the golfers who tried to walk up to them and take pictures. All of the elk I stalked were within 1 mile of my guides house within the city limits. I had never seen anything like it...
While I did not do it, my guide told me that I was within my rights as a tag holder to center punch a bull standing in someones yard or coming off the public golf course. I was on elk every day and saw a lot of huge bulls but never did release an arrow...
