Bow Help

I am new to bow hunting and would like to know if there's some one out there who can help point me in the right direction. I don't have a lot of money and I was looking to get an Archery tag this year.

I basically need all the gear.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I am new here

I just signed up to bloody decks and saw your post. I have started my own sporting goods co. and if you want I can sell you a Martin bow for a good deal. Brand new, they take about 2 weeks for Martin to build. Look at their website, I get the gold series line. I have sold a cheetah recently and they are nice. I cannot advertise my selling price, but for a new bow of that quality my price won't be beat.
You can always Ebay or in Escondido is willowcreek archery and in san diego is Bob Frohm archery(don't know if I spelled his name right) Thats it for san diego and no. county. Let me know. I carry shooting, fishing and archery supplies.

Do not, absolutely do not, buy a bow without shooting it first. A bow is all about personal feel. What I may love you may hate. Quality and performance is so close these days that brand really doesn't matter. Go to a bow shop, or two, and shoot everything in your price range that can get your hands on. Disregard what your buddy shoots and what Joe Schmo thinks you should shoot. Only you can make that decision and it should be based entirely on what you shoot the most accurately and what feels best in your hand.

That said, if money is a concern, make sure you check out the Bear Archery line. They make some great bows for the money.

Or, if you have a some friends that will let you test shoot their bows you might be able to find one you like and pick up a used model. Depreciation in bows is incredible. The setup I paid $1300-1400 3 years ago might sell for $500-600 now. Check out the classifieds on www.archerytalk.com.

Thanks for the info guys.

Nate - I don't have any hunting buddies that have bows. I will try and check here locally for an archery store. My budget is 4 maybe 5 hundred.

The bow is important but If you want to fill the tag beter be patient. the NO1 attribute that a bow hunter must have.the other is scent control. smoke forget it.you need scent free soap for you and your cloths.then a scent eliminating spray for your truck back pack
