Anyone own or had the chance to shoot any of the new Italian made Weatherby Orion or Athena O/U's?? What were your impressions in either case??

Nice weapon. I have a benelli and a mossburg, and no, I do not know how to spell binelli and not going to the safe. I had the opportunity to shoot the Weatherby and I really liked it.

Shot one a couple of years ago, but don't know which Weatherby o/u it was, but it was very, very, nice - and very spendy. The Orion and Athena have both been around for a while - did they change them?

They now have the "boss" action.. These guns are somewhat sleeker than the SKB guns from what I read.. I haven't seen one these new models in a gun shop yet.. Looking at these as well as the Beretta Onyx and Browning Citori White Lightning...

I have older ones, one in 12 and one in 28. Next o/u will most likely be a Berretta. The Weatherbys (at least the older ones) dont go on safe automatically when closing the break action, and that is a feature I really like. I am always cautious, but it is still a really nice feature.

Jason,
Are you loaded or what? 23, you have got to be a trust funder. Anyway I have no idea how good the weatherby shotguns are. But I can say from experience that their varmit rifles, esp. the 223 are second to none. Had a bud, now passed who was into long range varmit huntin. Went one time and was knockin the ground squillels in the fricken head from 450 yards. as God is my witness this is not BS. One shot at a time

Jason,
He also had a Savage; nice gun, only 500 bucks for us pieons. the only thing was that it was about 1/4 inch not as accurate over 500 yards as the $2500 Weatherby. guess what , that means alot on long distance shots

I have a Weatherby Orion, one made by SKB, it the new ones made in Italy are as good as the olders ones, it would be a great shotgun to have.
