Bloodsports and I took our boys down to Wister for the weekend. Saturday started of with Gregg and I calling in a dark goose into the decoys, Greggs son Andrew killing his first barred Speckle Belly. The next goose to come in my son Mathew drops it with his 20ga, so things are looking good! 20 minutes later a single snow comes in and the boys drop it, but as Andrew heads out to get goose it gets up flys away like nothing was wrong with it. That was it for the day, the birds just didn't want to co-operate any more.
We ate a great dinner in camp, ther were about a 20 kids and parents and Mike E and family put on a great spread!
Sunday morning we woke up to a strong west wind, the wind has not been my friend this year but I didn't share this with my son. We started off with Matt and Max with tons of ducks flying around and some geese. The adults called in one group snows for the boys and unfortuntaely the kids missed the birds in the wind, probably at 10 yds.
We decided to make a move and it worked out, Andrew got 3 snows and Matthew got 4 snows and we were out of there.
Andrew ended the trip with 3 snows and 1 spec my son Matthew got 5 snows, all with his 20 ga.
All in all a great trip but that drive home thru Banning was NASTY!
