Cold as ever this morning, One track Introduced himself to me, he was a walk on, As he went to pay his fee, he was about to pay for a motor, I quickly said, just hunt with me, we will have 2 chances at a good blnd., I drew # 5, Brent drew # 9, not bad for a walk on. I decided to go north, took blind # 7 Set up to the best of my knowledge. WEEEELLLL, it payed off. First thing in the morning, I saw a Drake ring neck as we were setting up....bird just ignored us. Then just about shoot time, a hen ring neck, and a coot flew in, right onto the deeks, then that drake swam in...we waited for them to swim away from the deeks. Then we lit them up. 2 down. YEAH I know we sluest them, but since there has not been a whole lot of birds there this year....F--- it , I was not about to let them get away. Later 2 more flew over head, like 2 small jets heading to the opposite of the lake, then I called, ( not like that changed thier mind. ) but they came back, landing gear down, right on top of the deeks....2 more down. Then later another flew right into the deeks, one more down. Then I glassed a drake way down the creek arm of our blind. Brent and I went to scare it up, lost him. Brent decided to walk further, and was able to scrare up 3 more, First shot a miss, 2nd dropped one, and third went CLICK!!! miss fire. Then alll was quite, then a nice flock came flying high, dropped real close, and was spooked buy a guy getting a dead duck just outside of our blind. Then a hen Mallard flew in just out of range, then another hen mallard flew in on the opposite side , again out of range. We opt to try and scare up the closest one to us, hopeing she will fly into us...but no good, she saw us and bugged out. I shot anyway, and saw the other hen get up, but land again futher into the creek area. So off we go to try and find her, sure enough as we rounded a bend, there she was, I think the bird scared brent, but he was able to hit her twice, and I once. She landed on the ridge, we scurried up, found her, or should I say she saw us, and screemed, like no other, we were off on a foot chase, I ended up doing a dive onto her, and was able to, wellllllll lets just say I landed on her, and again this season my gun goes endo into the dirt. So That was our day....
4 hen ring necks, 1 drake ring neck, 1 YOUNG drake ring neck, and 1 hen mallard.
Averag kill today I would say 3 birds a blind. with a mix of mallards, shovlers, gadwalds, and teal. We were the only ones with ring necks.
Brent / One Track, it was a pleasure meeting you and hunting with you.

Gene is a classic character. His gun did do two endos that day.
I enjoyed it. Thanks for picking me up. Gene's deke spread was perfect. Every ringneck that we saw, came back and wanted in. Well done. Fun day. Thanks.

Earth to spaceship Brent... What planet are you on? Ducks are cool and all but you have bigger fish (game) to fry.
