Made another trek down to whack some quackers. I had Ali tag along this time. We've been trying to set up a hunt together for 4-5 yrs.
Ali likes to have the birds decoy...who doesnt, but I wasn't to confident with the flight Brent and I didn't witness a couple days earlier. What the heck, it only takes 1-2 flights to make my day. Leave the dock and drifted too close to shore, hit the bottom and I finish the prop off...spun the bastard. I figure we can still go close but the motor would not let us. Boat back on the trailer.
Now what? Decide to set up where I did a few weeks ago, not to far from the launch. I hadn't seen too many birds there lately but daylight was coming FAST. Couple guys sky busting nearby put a damper on any birds coming even remotely close.
He doesn't like to jump shoot but I figured that's the only way to get a few ducks for him and the Mrs. He soon finds out that Goldeneye are bullet proof at times.

I think we ended up with 6-7 ducks. Gadwall, ringres bluebill and goldeneye. Opened his eyes up to the spot and stock method when things are slow.
Gunner made a couple really good reteieves for us. He's coming along well, he'll be 3 in April. We don't loose to many birds with him around.
Thanks for coming Ali. Always nice to get out in the field! We'll have to head down again when the birds are in better #'s.
