Headed up to the Uinta Mountains in Northern Utah last week for my second Cow Elk hunt this year. It is sure beautiful country up that way! My buddy Steve and I spent 4 days covering 100’s of miles of territory and we were able to successfully fill both of our tags. ffice

I filled mine out Thursday evening after a 2500 yard stalk we got within 200 yards to take my shot. We were in such a remote spot that after I shot my Elk we had to roll her down the side of a steep mountain about ½ a mile to get her within a mile of the truck. It got dark on us so we had to leave her and hike back in on Friday to get her and pack her back out.
Friday night it snowed about a foot and we hunted all day Saturday until we spotted another herd that evening. Steve made a 320 yard shot from the truck. Only problem was it was across two ravines that dropped down about 40 feet on either side.
It was a lot more work than I anticipated to quarter these Elk and pack them out but that’s what hunting is all about and I would do it again in a heart beat!!!
