Salton Sea Report Jan 8th-13th

Left Monday at around 10:30 am. Got the boat in the water at around 2:30 pm, it was a bitch driving to the desert in all that wind. I couldn't wait to kill ducks for a week! The drive out sucked ass because of the wind, but once we got there it was ON. Launched and camped at Red Hill, (Great bunch of guys there) We went out Monday afternoon for limits of Teal, all Green Wing. Tuesday was leisure, we got up at 7:30 headed out for more of the same. Wed and Thursday was ALL the Spoonies and Teal you wanted. Friday BLEW like a prom date and I couldn't take the boat out, we hunted the shore and got limits, it was nice to find a little calm bay the ducks wanted in. Saturday got up at the crack of dawn, hunted til 10:30 am for more limits of Spoonies and Teal. It was limits every day, we the the shit out ducks so we wouldnt be over limits in camp. I didnt take many pics of the ducks because we cleaned them asap. Plus everyone has seen Spoonies and Teal. Here are a few pics though.
Final Tally-
Dr. Fowl and Friend 84 ducks.
54 Green Wing Teal
30 Shovelers

IT WAS SWEEEEEEEEEEET.

Re: Salton Sea Report Jan 8th-13th

There is no store, but for $7 a night you can camp and hook up. It was very nice there, I met alot of good people. You can also store your trailer there for $50 a month.

Re: Salton Sea Report Jan 8th-13th

are you hunting out of your boat or running it on shore and than setting up.
25 yrs ago we used to launch and than run up the sea to some blinds we built to hunt out of great times. when the winds came up it was a very long walk back to truck or wait. the sea could get very nasty fast.
we were young and stupid than i cant belive none of us drowned
we shot a lot of ducks and geese . you could see thosands of honkers and snows rafted up but never get close enough.
the lanch ramp was the end of a road and you had to carry your boat off the trailer. boy did that mud smeell....... nothing like it anywhere.
have a high #res for wed. maybe i will check out that campgrond for next season and plan a long weekend thanks
