Hunted today with Brent (Fresh One) and his buddy Steve at Barrett. We were stoked as we had #2 and #5 picks today. We locked up the corner with blind 15 and 16. We set up in 15 and could hear the mallards calling as we got our dekes in the water. Shooting time came and the ducks were working our area but landing just outside of us. There were not that many ducks flying but we made it count today. We had a flight of teal come in that Brent and Steve got a bird each out of. After that we had some greenheads come a little to close to us. I finally bagged my first california mallard after 7 seasons of trying! I was stoked. Brent moved further back in the corner to try to get the ducks moving again. Unfortunately they really weren't flying today. We did a quick jumpshoot in the back and Brent bagged a nice ruddy. After the shot some teal and a hen mallard got up. The mallard flew too close again and I dropped it. 2 mallards in one day for me. The jinx is finally off. Highlight of the day was watching Brent do the "ninja sneak" on a pair of GW teal. He dropped one of them to end our shooting. Awesome day out there. It was a different kind of duck hunting than anything I have ever done before. Thanks to Sluester for lending me the motor and the spotlight.

By the pictures, I know right where you guys set up. That's a bigger blind than most people think. If you would have set up in the back they would have prolly landed in the front. Murphy's law.
It's nice you guys had that end of the lake covered. I wish I could go with you guys more and show you how I have hunted the lake. It would reduce the learning curve a little.
Way to go Marcus....
I talked to Kevin, he was down there today as well, his group ended up with 20. 10 mixed species and 10 Ruddys. God love the Ruddy!!!!!
I wish I was hunting today you lucky Bastards.
