pig huntin

i have a friend that wants to go shoot a pig and i said i would take him so anyone know of anywere to go shoot hogs on public land somewhat local i hear that there is some way up there in golden trout wilderness area but anyone know were to find them

Hi Kid!

No pigs in the Golden Trout Wilderness that I have ever heard of. The pigs generally stay in the lower foothills around here and there are far more towards the coast although they can be found on, (Unfortunately!), private land around the county too.

Even if they were in the Wilderness, there is another problem. No motor vehichles are allowed in. You'd have to pack in on horseback or on foot.

At the only place to find pigs on public land around here, you also have to know the time of year that they are moving through the area.

i know the ranger up there by needles and supposedly there are some big ones but i dont know were but could you direct me to a single place were there might be some later this month

Perhaps you missed something?

He asked about public land, not a hunt on private ranch lands for which he will have to pay a lot of money!

Do you know how many mice he would have to kill to afford the $500 boar fee alone?
