Ground Squirrels

So, anybody know a good spot to pop some ground squirrels? I just bought my son a CZ 452 Scout (.22LR) and he wants to 'go hunting'; thought I'd try to find a spot to shoot some varmints.

Go anywhere in the Mojave, they are all over out there, tons and tons of them

Any specific areas? The Mojave sounds kinda wide open... gunz I'm assuming Joshua Tree wouldn't be a good spot!

I was hoping for something a bit closer to San Diego so I can make a half day trip.

i'm interested in joining you guys. do i need a hunting lic. for that?
