Guy's we were hunting the Western Mojave, this area we hunt is small area, it's between Victorville and Barstow, east of the 15, is that close enough?
The birds were in groups 5 to 15, with lots of 2's and 3's, we had to pass on lots of shots becuse of the wind and how the birds were holding.

Dude, thanks for the reply and the info, I didn't know the Chukars were that far south, I used to hunt them years ago, (with my shorthairs) and we were hunting in the foothills of the eastern Sierras (sp) Alabama Hills area, west of Lone Pine and Independence, all along that volcanic flow area, used to tear up the pads on the dogs, and if it was snowing or after a snow, the only way you knew the pads on the dogs were all tore up was their trail in the snow, it would be all bloody. Used to take my dogs, clean up there pads and put them in the sleeping bag with me, not to keep the dogs warm, but to warm me up. (no shit). Good memories man.
Thanks for the post.

Cool, looks like a fun day.
Wasn't able to get out this weekend, but I have been seeing a covey or 2 every day, some as big as 30 birds. Will be getting out sometime soon.
Anyone got a dog, and need someone to tag along if I show you the places.... |
