mmmmm, woodies!
Oneof the members of our club shot one last year (near Wister). I was not there at the time and thought he was bullshitting me until I saw the pics and others confirmed.
Though I have not traveled to specically target them, I am yet to add one to my wall.

Beautiful bird! Saw 2 dozen of those fly in one evening. Kids were @ karate.
3 Honkers are there this year too. Coukld you imagine the carnage if they opened it up for 1 morning shoot.. No more duck/goose problem.

They are perhaps the most beautiful ducks in the world. I don't know if I'd shoot one or not. Now if we're talkin' greenheads or teal...........
FISH HARD!

Beautiful pair of wood ducks, we don't have many here in southern Calif but plenty to the north and tons of them through the midwest! I've only seen one while huinting and he's on the mantle today!

I shot a drake and a hen last year in Oklahoma. I ate them. I will hunt the same spot this year and if I see them again, they will make it on my wall.

Guys,
I lived on a wildlife area from the end of highschool to the end of college. We had a flooded timber marsh of about 50 acres. This time of year about 2,000 woodies were flying in each evening. Opening day looked like a war zone, but you could always get a limit.
I got tired of shooitng them and would focus on divers which were less numerous in my part of the state. Would average about 20 or more giant Canadas a year too.
Lead'em and bleed'em boys!!!!!!

He is hoping for a storm or some kind of weather to come in.
