Got there too late....

Well, I had to work, but figured 2 1/2 hours on stand is better than none, especially when I do't get out as often as I would like to.

Anyway, I parked, grabbed my stuff, and then head to the stand. 50 yards into the woods, at about 4:15 pm, there's a doe already out grazing around heading towards my stand. I'm in the open, and she's downwind in between me and the stand, yuck. I slipped over to some cover, and I don't think she saw me, but I also lost sight of her. She never came out towards me, so I'm guessing I wasn't as stealth as I thought, and she either heard or finally winded me.

Got into the stand, and nothing else but alot of birds and squirrels. I still like it though, especially now that the weather is cooler and the leaves are changing. Relaxing way to spend 2 hours.

It was 60 when i got out of the truck at 4:15, and was 45 when I left at 7:00 or so. I checked the weather at 5:00 this morning, and it said it was 28..... Brrrrrrrrrrr....

When you called and told me you prolly wouldn't be up until 4:30 ish I thought about telling you it may be a lil late for that spot. Should have told you to take the lower trail in too huh? It's a quiet walk in that way...oops.

Yeah, thanks... The last conversation with you before I went up was "Well, those deer don't come by till 6:00 or a little after......"

Loved the stand though...

I've bumped them at just about every hour there. BUT I've seen the most closer to dark. Weird, traditionally that area has been killer in the morning. I'm figuring with so many young uns this year they don't move through till dark. I'm thinking about moving a stand to where it would be a little earlier for shooting.

I'm pretty jazzed about a private land opportunity. This guy has a photo of at least 15 deer on his property and there were at least 7 BIG bucks. He said he has seen a 5x5. I believe him.
Gets one thinking about the rut on that farm. Wouldn't that be something.
