| AZ Yuma dove hunt Went to AZ for the dove opener. This was my first dove hunt and I didn’t know what to expect . Well I can say I’m hooked. I went hunting with Jerky and his crew. We hunted one of his spots in Yuma. Day one Limits in about an hour. I was hogging the birds . It was windy as hell, but it didn’t affect the bird movement. My son shot a dove (with my assistance /12 gauge) that was wounded on the ground. He was stoked. When the shooting started he was pointing out birds everywhere. He was a good bird dog/ shell collector and was probable easier to train than a dog.
I was so caught up in the hunt, I hurried up and cleaned my birds and forgot to take photos. These were Jerky's birds and his 410.

Waking up at 315 AM and shooting birds is hard work.

My family and I stayed at the River’s Edge RV Resort in our Toy hauler. Full hook ups and it only cost $28 a day. Not bad. I sat my ass in the river all day and drank beer. What a day. That night I prepared and BBQ my kill. Not bad for a 10 piece chicken nugget. I broke out my best camping china to impress all of you guys. That is not my hairy grub snatcher. That thing belongs to the Yuma bigfoot. Day two, Limits in about an 1 1/2. No wind and hot. I had a blast and will probably be in the Valley next week to shoot some more dove. My son wearing my vest picking up the catch of the day. You know you are tired when you are willing to use a brick for a pillow. All I hear from my son is, “Dad where is my bird? I want to put it on my wall.” I didn’t keep it, but if he continues to ask about it, I might have to find a mounted dove for him. |

We stayed at Rivers Edge too!!! Off of Crappie Lane... I'm surprised you never saw the surburban or jeep running around there with the BD stickers on them.... If you come down next year.. Stop by for beer and margaritas....

Way to go Omar! I love the pictures, especially the brick pillow one. I too left the house at 3 a.m. and would've welcomed a brick pillow myself for the ride home.
Maybe next year we can all plan a BD dove hunt? I'd be down for camping out and hitting it for two days. |
