My buddy and I got a late start this morning, heard a gobble so we skipped the decoy spread and planted next to the nearest tree. While calling at the gobbling turkey a second flys by at tree top level, then a third flys out from the tree we chose to hide under. The gobbler hung up then left, my buddy got one of the other two..9 1/2 inch beard. Ahh there's always tororrow, right?

I wanna play too! I hunt up near Shit Creek...next

Mike, I got out last Saturday for the second time. I decided to not cut and past my first turkey hunt post...same story different day. At least I'm seeing turkeys, just no response to my calling? What gives?

Sup Tim!
Don't over call. Lots of guys do. If the toms are hened up the hens will want to keep the toms close and will call the toms back to them. If you have a dominant tom sometimes you can coax the others (Jakes or lesser toms) closer. I hardly call. If you are in the zone be patient and figure out if you are just set up a little wierd. Gotta be flexible in setting up and willing to move fast if need be.
Remember when we were talking about the ones you heard while in your stand? These do not sound like any call I've heard. Must be out of state/country turkeys.
