F**k Yeah!
You have seen some of these lures on this board; here are some of them on the water.

Big Pancho send me some swimbaits and slugs (Thanks, dude). Decided to bring them with me today to an offshore spot not any more southern in latitude than Long Beach, but the water is already 72 degrees.
Actually, that is cold for this time of year--average would be 75 degrees (f**king global warming!).

Moving right along, one of Frank's slugs. Bass Gullah's 'fo sure, but I rigged up with a 1 oz. 6/0 leadhead, and it darts like a mofo. I had the dorado chasing it today, but did hook on. Other lures were not getting bit well either--follows, no swallows.
Next to that is an "eyeless popper" made by .

This on one of those duck-billed, school hat wearing duck/squid poppers, that we see so much of this time of year.

We ran out 30 miles today, and when we hit the edge of the "Kuroshio" (Japanese Current, not unlike the Gulf Stream on the right coast), there were huge current breaks like this one, but as the water is still cool (72 f.) there was not much life.
A few terns, and spots of anchovy, and sardines.
So we went to the FAD, and it had some dorado on it.

I believe this on is on the 500 fathom curve, and the current was ripping...

El Capo hooked me up with some rad marlin lures, and told me to rig this one with a single 10/0 hook. It is a little early for blue marlin, and most of the stripers are done, but I wanted to see how this baby pushed, popped, and smoked. Awesome is all I can say. Swear to Buddah, one of my customers was asking if a dorado could get it's mouth around this size trolling lure with a 10/0 stainless hook, when it went off. I got air, and I saw it was a "shira" (dorado) so I just took to 50 wide out of the rod holder, handed it to him and said "you tell me". It was his first troll fish, and he was having so much fun reeling, and yelling when the fish jumped that I forgot to tell him that he should not be having a good time because the fish was hooked on heavy tackle.

We caught a few Aku on meatballs...

and then I caught the smallest Japanese Yellowtail (buri) that I have ever seen.
We did not catch all that much, but had a good time anyway, casting, trolling lures that we, and our friends had built.
