Fishing Report With so many fish being boated in Kona

How come they're not in my boat?

I went out for 9 hours and had only 5 aku and ahi to show for it. Oh well. I saw the weigh in for charters... not the Maui Jim tournament guys... and it was impressive. Lots of t and r's and the Dojo had 2 Ahi over 145 when I was there. I had to leave so I didn't get to see the rest of the fleet.

Well the fish are here. I had a 300+ at leader on live bait. But I had to dump the leader after it ran out and then turned and stabbed my poor boat. It went under and through the props and there went my smoked marlin. All I can say is that the Avet 80 handled wonderfully.

Well next time i'll be prepared and have a veteran partner to maneuver the boat so that it won't happen again. Oh and I need a bigger gaff. I don't think my Ono gaff would hold enough meat.

BUMMERS RJ. WE FISHED 2 DAYS AT VV AND SAME THING. ONLY RATS AND A SMASHED LIVE AKU FOR BAIT. ANYONE CAN HELP ME OUT WITH THIS PROBLEM?

I think we gotta go down current of the palu ahi guys and steal their chum line..haha. Then we drop our live baits and run'em through. My neighbor hooked a big Ahi 5 minutes before I threw in my bait. Ahhh I guess its just luck

The guy next to me in the washdown had a 203 he got live-baiting at VV. He said it took him 2 hours to get a bait and he got the ahi in 15 minutes. I tried F yesterday. TWO-ZERO-ZERO trolling there. Picked up and Aku for bait pretty quickly. After 1 hour stenos showed up and it was Porpoise 3 - MikeO 0 before I finally gave up and trolled back with no more hits.
