show me your lures!!!

Here are four of my lures. Not the prettiest lures in any way. But they are all originals meaning that they have survived hundreds of trips without shattering or getting cut off -- pretty impressive or lucky. The first one is a Futa head. Caught my first Ahi on this sucker running it way way back on the rigger. Mahis like it and Onos seem to like it as well. One time a big ono took it down and we thought we had a small marlin until it came up to gaff. Pops when gaff 'em right tru da gills but dat fucka wen shake his head and fell back into the water cutting the leader line. The amazing thing is that the lure was still on the leader. That was the biggest ono I've ever seen (80 pounds at least). The eye was frickin huge. Oh well.

Ok, the second lure is a jet head with the red eyes missing. The story behind this one is that it catches everything except Ahis. Mahis and onos love it around rubbish. Even otarus will take this lure off the long corner or the center rigger. I retired this lure after it caught a 580# black marlin. The funny thing is we were running a 9" shiroma head opposite this lure on the other rigger at that time and were only dragging two lures. Why the marlin picked the smaller jet when it had akus in its stomach is beyond me.

As for the other jet. It too is an O.G. (original) that has caught choke mahis when Kaneohe has open school after open school after open school...the funny thing about this one is that I've never changed the skirts ever? How the hell are the legs still intact? I gotto admit its not the prettiest lure either and I don't put it out cause I think I have much better lures but it proves me wrong a lot.

My fourth lure...I like this lure but the fish don't. I made this lure for Waianae in 07 when everybody was catching tunas. I pulled this out of grandpa's box when I saw the crack in da head thinking it was going catch. Looks like an old Dennis Odagiri head. Dressed it up in black and gold -- old school McKinley colors but never took a hit ever. WTF?

Oh well, hope this thread was entertaining. I've enjoyed reading the posts here regarding spreader bars...eastside fads...but just wanted to change the tone to something a bit more positive cause the fishing and weather has been sucking lately wouldn't you say?

Since we talking lures, can anyone post pics of "standard" lure colors, skirt by skirt? For example, my friend swears by the "Mavis" color combo, while another just runs "Dark Salmon" on all his pearl head jets. For those who live outside Hawaii, the Salmon color combo is something like salmon (dark or blue) over orange/yellow/white/ over plum. That's a standard I believe on the Waianae side at least, along with icy blue over anything and everything. So along with the lures, lift 'em up and show me your skirts,,,

Matsu pearlhead and Super Ninja (I think I mentioned in a previous thread that if this lure had a vagina I'd marry it.)
