Plattas,
Wellllll.......
First off make sure you discuss with any potential boat capt that you want to catch fish
What so many of you do not understand about here is the conditions are different than everywhere else. Mahi are not just 'there' to go get. The best bet is to find floating debris but it is not kelp paddys, we have no kelp so finding structure is harder than along Calif.
Also the water gets deep, I mean REAL deep real fast so there is not very much bottom contures to work once you get very far offshore. By far offshore I mean in some areas you can go 1/2 mile out and be in 1,000ft of water.
Don't get me wrong there are areas where the bottom helps with currents/upwellings but it depends on the currents. With a south current the fishing is better but with a north current it shuts the bite down ?????? Got me why???
There are other things to try but many capt's don't want to do the extra work.
If you want to try a hard working boat look at the Huntress, Northern Lights ect. but be prepared to pay top dollar, you get what you pay for!!!!
Call early because the good boats get booked during the summer.
Look on the web for lots of information and boats.
You see I am free to Misuse so he will get exactly that

And I will make him bring lunch!!!!!
Aloha, Pete
What are your dates???
