replacing fads

I was out on the tug the other day and saw the state boat with Fad "t" on the back and this morning I saw them with "j", looks like they are replacing them?? Sure was a nice the last 10 days or so on the water.

ALRIGHT....good to see some of money being used to benefit some of the fishermen.

"T" bouy???? I just went out three days ago from Hawaii Kai straight out to the former location of "T". No signs of the bouy. I hope you are right that they put it back.

The ride out was ok due to the southwest winds but the ride back was a toilet bowl/trash/sucks ride.

i hope they replace some of the FAD's on the Hilo side of the Big Island...only 1 (QQ) out of 6 buoys still there. hopefully some of these fishermen stop tying up to the buoys...takes away fishing for everyone, including themselves. it's a shame, and we can only hope to get some of them back. any knowledge of anything being put back in hilo???

Hilo FAD's

I called the head of the FAD program recently to tell him that F buoy is gone. He told me that the Hilo side FAD's only last about 3 months because there's some guy over there (many know who it is) that keeps tying up to them and breaking them off. He told some Hilo fishermen to confront the guy and when they did, the guy basically told them to piss off. With that said, there is no schedule to replace any of the Hilo FAD's until there's some kind of guarantee that the guy will stop.

F buoy will be back in by the end of Feb.
