Kaneohe koa kai....

Well... Took off this morning at 0515... zoomed right passed U Buoy, actually a couple miles to the left of it, dropped lines in the water... noticed alot of birds just flying around that area, but none working yet... so, what the hell... trolled , what 9 or so miles to LL FAD... nothing... didn't see any birds working anything period... LL produced squat... saw plenty on the fishfinder, down to 150feet or so... up current side of the FAD... trolled the big stuff, then broke it down to 5" lures, then to the planer with clark spoon, then to live bait... NOTHING... what a bummer... then head to the pinch, then off to X FAD... nothing at the pinch, one bird pile, but only small kine.. no mahi... got to X to find Foxy Lady and Karlyn pulling up the AHI... live baiting opelue, must be... from what i can see... others were pulling up aku by deep jigging... i manage to catch two small aku, then had enough of all that... trolled bout 6 miles away, pulled up lines at turtle bay and zoomed in.... the entire 16 mile trip back near the 500 fathom curve, not a single bird pile or anything... really weird how dead it is.. but still glad SOMEONE is pulling up some AHI...

until next time...

Try jigging domashi jigs at the range buoys, can also try the barge. Give a 20 second drop and jig, try for a while, then give another 5 second drop and so on. Once you find the right depth, you got em. If you have some bait, sometimes you can get them to come around by slowly baiting.
