I was handed my @$$... that's about it.. left Keehi Lagoon at 0350, got to the high side of 500 fathom line at 0450, lines in the water... sun rising, all is looking good... no one in sight... ran for an hour from the barge to S FAD before the boats started to bombard my path... zig zag across the 500 to 1000 fathom between the two points, nothing.. headed out to the 1500 to try that for awhile... nothing... then back in towards the 700 fathom area for awhile.. nothing.. then trolled from S FAD all the way back to Keehi.... nothing.. skunked... what the hell.. i thought the water was perfect, some good wind waves, not to washy, but good.... nice day... rained a couple times (that may help at times) ... nothing... not a single malolo all day... no rubbish... Did run across two really good size bird piles, but thanks to another boater, he came about 40 feet from my bow, just to cut me off when i was just trolling and birds showed up from nowhere... so i'm thinking sweet, i'm in the path... this is it... hell no, jack@$$ shows up and runs me out of the way.. what happen to general seamanship, did that go out the window... karma brah... it'll catch up... mahalo to all the lucky winners today.. it wasn't a hand out.. so, good on all ya'll for catching em'....

Real pumped for day 2. We got one of those 140 Ahi- ours went 117lbs. Took a screamer that almost emptied a 130 Tiagra in under 90 seconds. 35lbs of drag, never even stopped. 150 mainline parted way above the swivel, wtf?
I would say Marlin, but no jumps, so.......
Did I mention I'm stoked for day 2?

a guy once told me he suspected bigger tunas in our waters, and that it would be difficult to catch them when they started their deep submarine dive, whereas places like puerto vallarta and massachusetts, the big tunas sound and you can feel them when they thud and bounce off the bottom. way to go, good luck to all tomorrow!!!

Watched everyone hook up in the morning and could only muster up a rat mahimahi. Had to wait until 3 to finally get my chance and was lucky enough to get one that went 142. Found him at the pinnacle and it hit a salmon. hope to get more tomorrow!

Jack you'd be proud of the old boat I heard she boated a 229; if correct a tournament record.
