depends on the charter, really... if you get one that chases bird piles and fishes rubbish piles... perhaps uses live opelu or akule.... you could catch anything from marlin to mahi to ono to shibi... right now is a good time... later on in june will mostly be better... good luck to ya....

My husband I went out on 6.19.09 on an 8hr trip w/ Kai Akua (aerialsportfishingcharters.com) and caught a 92lb Ahi, 12 lb Mahi-Mahi, 5 lb tuna (similar to Skipjack) and a 10 lb Barracuda. We hooked about a 300# Marlin, but after a series of jumps and tail dances she got off . Great fun and super nice boat! It was fun coming back to harbor, fish flags flying and people waiting to see our catch they'd heard about on the radio!

Lots of great boats in Lahaina!Best to check out the pictures from Lahaina posted on this board. When you get there go by the dock to see who is catching and who you would like to spend the day with.Capt.Rino or Patrick would be good choices.See who takes the best care of your fish after you catch it(do they have all the ice they want,or are they limeted to one bag per day).Check out the boats and see who maintains there equipment best. Each person has things they want out of a charter, when you take the time to look for your self you will probably make the right choice!Aloha
