questions about pics?

Why are some of the pics being automatically decreased to thumb nails. Some of them go in as full size on peoples posts. I never had to click on thumb nails before.

The thumbs are the pics that are added via "manage attachments". The full size are added via a link to the picture IE our gallery.

The thumbs load faster, save bandwidth, and keep the really huge pictures people upload from messing up the site...
