Lower Owens?
[quote] Heading to the lower Owens next week, anyone fished it recently? Also found out, coincidentally, the upper and Hot Creek are opening? Any word? Thanks in advance for any info. I'm taking my Dad (vet. FF) and two newbies, so would like a little success.

Alan,
Just got off the river today on a guide trip with two customers on the Lower Owens in the wild trout section. Fishing was slow we first worked nymphs and waited for the B.W.O. hatch which has been starting as early as 11:30am. The hatch was light due to high winds and the fish never really responded to the adults on the suface. I had to work my customers hard to have them land a few fish each and that was with nymphs. The river got pounded this last weekend over the holiday and the fish are just worked. Things will be good next week with the opening of the three rivers on march 1st East Walker River, Upper Owens and Hot Creek and from that point on these bodies of water will be open year round. This will spread out the anglers and also the pressure on the water the regs state catch and release only barbless flies or lures. I will be doing a pre operner report with current photos of bodies of waters and a list of flies recommend on tuesday night 02/27/07 here on
