Shelly and I traveled into the backcountry of San Diego county in search of the elusive wild trout along the banks of "charred tree creek" today. What we found was bugs, plenty of water, but no sign of fish.
After driveing

an hour on the freeway, thirty minutes of winding roads and ten miles of dirt roads we made it to the trailhead. Once out of the truck and into the hiking mode, we made our first sighting of the day......

The day was a success. That being the first time for either of us seeing the first California turkeys of our lives.
Then alittle further down the trail, we looked to the north and saw this magnificint waterfall. The highest in SD county, reported by one of the books on SD trail hiking.

Two and a half miles in, down a good trail(FBW-peachs and cream), along side the main river and then a branch off to the creek we were seeking. Starting at another waterfall, about fifty feet high,

we encountered this after looking over the edge.
So we decided to start fishing above the falls, working our way upstream.

The water temperature was favorable for fish as Shelly can attest to, by several foot dunkings,

So, on and on we went, bouldering, rock hopping, sweating, and sometimes cursing. The kind of going where you have to put the rod down and pull yourself up the rock or rocks, turn around and help the other person up. After two and a half miles of this Shelly was beginning to wonder, out loud, if we were lost. No I assured her, we weren't lost the road should just be around the next bend and if worse comes to worse we just go back out the way we came in

. Well the next couple of bends didn't produce

, now its the quite treatment :Kick_emot .
So, eventually, it all worked out, we found the road(a little further on that what was written) we made it home, and now looking back on it, know that we had an excellent day of hiking and finding the unseen San Diego.
Until next time,
