I fished South Lake last week in hurricane force winds. We caught about 15 back in the inlet. The rest of the lake was too windy. Nothing of size, 1.5 lbs the biggest.

Kevin Crowley Lake is getting better and better everyday. It was really good about a week and a half ago then the weather shut it down but is rebounding really nice and the big fish are coming out to play.

I was up there during mid july and the place was vacant, so don't worry about getting a camp site. We stayed up by Lea vining and by rock creek. Fishing was great at all lakes but crowley had just alge bloomed. Good luck.

In all my time on the eastern side I've never fished Crowley, I was always led to believe it was a boaters lake for big fish :>) Since I'll have a tent trailer instead of the boat ... what about the shore fishing ? are there campgrounds near/adjacent to lake access that my nine year old, Mr. Caster, could get to easily? And what about up near bridgeport, other than the reservoir, another I haven't fished by the way, campgrounds on creeks with fish ? As I mentioned in the Surf Fishing forum, we're looping up the coast going north and then at some point coming back across and down the eastern Sierras. I need a couple of places before I hit the destination spot, Lee Vining, where I've got family seasonally working ...

I didn't do any creek fishing...I was pulling a boat, and parking would be impossible. Lots of water below South Lake...it was tempting.

There is pretty much no shore fishing from Crowley it is either float tube or by boat. And now you cant get any trailers to the lake either they blocked off the roads to allow just cars and trucks. Rock Creek is right down the highway from Crowley where Toms Place is and it has a nice stream and lake to fish with alot of campgrounds on that road. Also above Rock Creek lake there is a nice trail to hike on that goes along a stream and has alt of little lakes within a couple miles. I am pretty much an all float tuber so I dont know much on the shore fishing side but alot of the Mammoth lakes, Convict, and Virginia Lakes are good from shore. Heres a couple links for fishing reports for almost all the main lakes up that way.

Rock Creek is very nice as I said before. It is in between Mammoth and Bishop on the turn off where Toms Place is. There are alot of campgrounds up that road with streams and lake up above.

Crowley Report

Fished aug 12 and 13 from my boat at Crowley. fishing was fair. The inlet at McGee was the best area. Also fish being caght in 13 to 15ft.

Quality was great. I had a 22 and 21 inch rainbows. There were alot of mayfly's coming off as well as the midges. this year and last year seem a bit off compared to previous years, but that's fishing. Good Luck.

Just got back from Parchers Resort . Fished South Lake , North Lake , and Bishop Creek area . Caught most of the fish on inflated crawlers in the lakes and flylined crawlers in the steams . Gold Super duper , kastmasters, and float fly also got a few fish in the lakes . Best stream fishing for me was in the stream that flows out of Lake Sabrina . Bring your waders to access the best pools . Tight Lines !

Did South Lake on 8/9-10, got 4 bows 12-15" on needlefish and speedy shiners trolling with 20-40' jet divers , and one 16" fatty (record for me) on a K9 chrome/green kwikfish on the troll. Didn't get anything at the inlets. Sabrina and North Lake were skunk trips. Nice weather though. Gotta try Crowley one of these days. Convict from the shore produced nothing for me in May, albeit a half assed effort.
