"000 weight sage txl!"
can you please educate me bit on this ? Is this the lightest flyrod? and how does the length figure into things? I need a shorter rod than I've got now for fishing nymphs of the sierra type creeks, i.e. bishop, lee vining ... I do a lot of roll casts, some traditional ... the rod I've had since my first fly rodding is a 7 1/2 footer that's pretty middle of the road, versatility wise .... thanks for any insight.

I wouldnt recommend this rod unless you are an experienced fly fisherman. It is very diffuclt to cast for begginers. The length is 7' 10". Forget about casting large nymphs with this rod.....its hard just to cast dry flies, let alone heavy nymphs. If you are looking for a nice rod to fish small creeks I would recommend starting out with the txl 2 or 3 wieght. they are ideal for fishing small creeks and have enough flex to make 10" fish a challenge and have enough backbone to cast a dry dropper set up 30 or more feet. I have a txl 2 weight and love it. I just bought the 000 txl because I wanted to challenge myself with sage's lightest rod.
