so. cal's a tough one for stream fishing. depending on the winter season you might get some of the creeks stocked once they get water, i.e. sweetwater, but you're really more like an eight hour drive away ....

| I visit my family every so often in Moscow ID, I fished around Coeur d'Alene clearwater, Elk creek, St. Maries, etc.. I was hoping to find somthing similar down here, I usually drive down to Bishop, but little far. Quote: |

Ok -
It would be exploratory, a hard hike, fish might not be there anymore either.
The info comes with some rules too. Still want it?

West fork of the San Gabriel has a nice wild Trout catch & release area a couple of miles from the highway. It's an easy hike as there's a paved access road (behind a locked gate) that runs almost 10 miles from the highway to Cogswell Dam, right along side of the river. I used 2 & 3 wt's up there. Try #18 & 20 Griffith's Gnats.
I have another "less traveled" spot for Rainbows & Brookies about 20-25 miles North East of the 215/10Fwy interchange. Probably under 2hours from Escondido. Email me on that one and I'll fill you in. |
