Does anyone know of rivers or creeks to fish in by San Diego. maybe within a 5 hour drive. I sure miss those creeks up in Idaho. thanks

so. cal's a tough one for stream fishing. depending on the winter season you might get some of the creeks stocked once they get water, i.e. sweetwater, but you're really more like an eight hour drive away ....

hmmmmmm, San Gabriel river east and west forks, in Azusa Canyon, 15 North, 210 West, Forest Service ck in sometimes, stocked fish mostly, some wild.

West fork of the San Gabriel has a nice wild Trout catch & release area a couple of miles from the highway. It's an easy hike as there's a paved access road (behind a locked gate) that runs almost 10 miles from the highway to Cogswell Dam, right along side of the river. I used 2 & 3 wt's up there. Try #18 & 20 Griffith's Gnats.
I have another "less traveled" spot for Rainbows & Brookies about 20-25 miles North East of the 215/10Fwy interchange. Probably under 2hours from Escondido. Email me on that one and I'll fill you in.  | |
