Red Gold

Today a friend and I went after some kokanee salmon. These fish supposedly are 15-20 inches. While most we caught were in that range we caught a couple that were WAY bigger. Using big leeches and they wanted a surprisingly slow strip.

AWESOME FISH

That is the beauty of this fly....different colors, different lines/depths.
But the change I made, was to add Polar Chenille to the body. Making it a little fatter through the body like a REAL minnow.
I have used Black for leaches, and the Burnt Orange for Crawfish, both with a fast sink line. Then the tan with different colored bellys for Chub or other bait fish with an intermediate or a type II line. The burnt orange on a slower sink has been used for BROWN minnow also. Very cool patter because of the movement, and now I use regular chenille for a thin body and Polar Chenille for fat....or is it PHAT
