| Owens on FIRE
Went up to Mammoth area this weekend with my boys. Fished Sat, Sun & Mon AM. Knocked 'em silly at the Owens, we must have released 80 to 90 trout (all stockers except 1 small brown), the fish ranged from 11" to 18" with 12" to 14" being the norm.
I went 0 for 2 on the lakes float tubing - I never even got hit once & I threw everything at 'em. We float tubed Lk. George & Convict. My boys got 1 & 2 between the two of them at George & nada at Convict. One of the George fish was a funny foul hook, he snagged a swivel that was attached to a hook deep inside the trout's throat, he couldn't get to that hook so he trimmed off the excess line & it swam away fine.
We got 5 at Hot Creek Mon AM and one of my boys had a hell of a time trying to revive the 2 he caught. After a good 5 to 6 minutes of trout CPR they didn't respond and floated away, what a shame but he tried everything he could. Does anyone know why the Hot Creek trout don't revive so well? I thought that maybe because the water is so darn hot and being wild fish they get more freaked out when caught.
Sorry no fish porn but I did get some nice scenic shots and some shots of my boys hooked up.
