Yes go up Azusa Ave aka hwy39 might be a little HOT with alot of people in the water. weekdays might be better or really early on weekends

And I believe you have to get some sort of parks pass in order to park and leave the car.

It's been a looooooong time since I went up there, you didn't need a pass back then. We used to go up the East fork until the road ended and hike up the stream catching fish out of 1/2 the pools as you went up.

Very cool way to spend the day.

its a adventure pass before you start going up mountain there is a ranger parking booth on the right hand side.its should'nt be more then 10 bucks

You should be able to get your adventure pass from your local REI or Sport Chalet. Get there early (5:30-6:30). To beat the baiters. I usually will take my bike and ride 3-4miles back then start. The first couple miles is all stockers natives are in the back. Don't expect big.

dont leave anything of value in your car....if you take a bike you can ride past all the trash and have it all to yourself.....most of the bad stuff is near the parking area.....its still fun and one of the few flyfishing spots in so cal let alone los angeles
