| Re: Lake Skinner Help
Straight off of Turners fishing report, nothing new Skinner is going down hill big time. Lake Skinner Fish Report 12-03-07
Its been too slow here. Nothing new to report.
Try Diamond Valley: Bass: Big bait time is upon us! Swimbaits remained the predominate method for success at DVL. Z -Plugs, California Swimbabes, Spro BBZ, and Huddlestons were the most reported lures with most of those catches occurring within the first 15 feet of water. Ice jig reports were still effective for fishing as deep as 60 feet. Drop shotting or Carolina rigging plastics 45 – 60 feet down was a mainstay for finesse fisherman. The east dam, the west dam, shore line fishing, and the point to the left of the marina were the most reported lake locales for those looking for bass. Dennis Horn of Moreno Valley got a 5.48 pound bass fishing with a swimbait on the east dam. Jeff Harper of Hemet got a 6.53 pound bass fishing with nightcrawlers 10 feet down on the first point of the shoreline. Trout: Shore anglers continue to hammer the trout while boaters look on in envy. Trout were biting from 10-25 feet near the marina mainly along the shoreline fishing area as well as the east dam. There continued to be an absence of the intangible holdovers. Kastmasters, mini jigs, Power Worms, and nightcrawlers all duped the DVL trout. Daniel Quiroz of Whittier got a 5.21 pound trout fishing the east dam with and Owner lure. Tim Carnahan of Sky Valley got his biggest trout at 5.3 pounds fishing the east dam at 10 feet with a Rapala. Shore Angler, Jim Mehan of Winchester, got 4 fish at 13.32 pounds sinking a nightcrawler to 10 feet. Louie Vega of San Jacinto got a 6.62 pound trout fishing from shore with nightcrawlers. Garrett Adair of Sun City got his biggest trout at 3 pounds fishing with corn Powerbait on the first point of shoreline. Striper: Striper fishing slowed a bit this week. Trout swim baits, Plugs or stick baits were the most reported lures for striper. Shore anglers reported many catches this week. We have yet to hear of anything under 10 pounds, so set your drags loose. Fishing points near the marina or on the inlet remain proven spots for boaters. Catfish: Catfish have refused to go away in the face of dropping water temps. Best bet is the third cove of shoreline fishing, and near the east dam or wave attenuator. The most effective baits included anchovies, mackerel, and raw shrimp. Most catfish have been found on the bottom in 25 - 50 feet. Craig and Skielur Allard brought their uncle Kenny Peterson to DVL to bring in 18 pounds of catfish. All were caught on the east dam by dropping nightcrawlers to 20 feet. Roger Harsha of La Verne got 9 cats totaling 55 pounds that were hungry for mackerel. He fished at 40 feet in various cove on the east side of the lake. Congratulations to Kerrie Carter of Hemet who not only got the biggest fish of the week, but her first at DVL. The monster was 12.60 pound channel cat caught by the wave attenuator with anchovies. Panfish: There is still a panfish bite at DVL and most anglers have the best luck fishing along the dams, specifically near the stairways. The panfish have recessed from the banks in recent weeks. Anglers have found that fishing 20 -30 feet off the dams using live worm dropped to 25 feet has been a consistent method.Bass: Big bait time is upon us!
