As for LNL, all you need is 2lb test. 2lb P-Line will work just fine. I use the 4lb Fluoro Clear(This is what I spool with all the time), just in case you hook into any 8-12 pounders in any of the pay lakes. If you are fishing "Lloyds", 2lb will suffice. As for the fraying, I have the same problem. During the same day of fishing, I strip off a rod length of line after every fish I catch, then the only thing I do is re-spool every trip.
Other line suggestions....
2lb Cuda
3lb Maxima
4lb P-Line Fluoro
Hustlur

straight 4lb segar floro, never had a problem and it always outfishes my buddies that are using mono.

Used 2# P-line today for the first time today at Mission WeAhole lake, that stuff was as bad as Berkley (memory and self knoting), going back to Maxima - by the way limited out great fish all 3#+ and colors where awesome
