anyone ever fish lake calaveras

i do. sometimes i bring my yak there and slay blue gill and bass on pet co goldfish. does anyone know if there is catfish there? ive neevr caught one. i did reel in a 9 pound largemoth though on a frog popper

Hey Noob,
Please do not fuck up Calaveras by using goldfish for bait. Not only will it fuck up the fishery, it's totally against the law. They have this new book, it's put out by the State of California and is called the 2006 Sportfishing Regulations. You should get one.

4.10. Bait Fish Use in the Southern
District.
Except as provided below, live or dead fin fish
shall not be used or possessed for use as bait
in the Southern District:
(a) Dead threadfin shad and live or dead
longjaw mudsucker may be used in all Southern
District waters.
(b) Live threadfin shad may be used only at the
location where taken.
(c) Golden shiner and red shiner may be used
in San Diego County.

It's a little 10 acre lake in Carlsbad that the tree-huggers are already trying to restrict access to fishing.

I fished it once.

Limited shore space, but it looks like it could be a killer place if you were in a float tube/yak.

I didn't catch shit, but then again I SUCK at freshwater fishing and have no patience for LMB. Water smelled like poo poo.

Its on the carlsbad- vista border.

ya it actually sucks terribly fromshore ...but i dont care about any damn tree huggers anyways...but thanks for the tips stanley...i wont use goldfish anymore if u incist considering u probably no more than me...but i dont see how it screw opver the enviroment...ive rode dirtbikes tehre b4 and wont do that again and can understand how that screw ovr the enviroment...but i dont no about goldfish

Gold fish are baby fucking carp.
Carp eat all the bottom vegitation.
Then they start eating the shoreline vegitation.
Then you have a bitchen little mud bottom pond full of fucking carp.

bottom vegitation? more like bottom tires, cars, dead bodies, beer bottles and other junk. that is my local lake I live no more than a 5 minute walk away. good fishing though. I think it would be pretty cool if there were some big carp in there.

I've already raised 3 kids through their teenage years...do what you want and good luck. You guys are someone else's problem. Just don't fuck up Calaveras.

k...sorry dudes i wont fish with goldfish anymore i didnt mean it to turn into an angry fest i just wanted to no of any fellow fisherman...no need for anyone to get angry...as tred barta would say "shut it and fish it"

Carp wipe out other gamefish because they suck their eggs right out of the nest. We used to shoot them with a bow when I was in high school after they got stuck in the holes after the river started to dry up. Pretty fun stuff. Some folks think they are a gamefish nowadays. Probably the same dudes that think its fishing to go to SARL and fish for those tailless trout!
