just a piece of humble pie @ LNL 12-28-05!!

i decided to take the late xmas gifts to the lake employees this am and make a day of it with the kids in the park , i guess it would also be safe to say i was on a scouting mission ( NOT A FISHING EXPEDITION)

please allow me to preface this by saying i love it when this shit happens
:FU: :FU: :FU:

it never fails to amaze me how many people have a

TOTAL LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN THEIR ABILITY TO CATCH A FISH

SO WHAT HAPPENED : as you can probably guess the lake recv'd a load of fish last night and i am sure that several hours b4 the gates opened the HEAVY crowds started lining up in anticaption of a WFO bite on freshly stocked fish,
all the people that have a

TOTAL LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN THEIR ABILITY TO CATCH A FISH

figuring they would show up with secrets under their belt & show the world what quality fishermen they are , fishing in a small 44 acre lake that just dumped 5000 # of fish

( the potential to become a hero and gloat/brag about their fishing expertise )

well as luck would have it the place was wall to wall people every boat rented as well as a waiting list 4 a rental boat , 50-60 tubers, the shore line packed with people shoulder 2 shoulder.
EVERY ONE OF THEM EXPECTING TODAY WOULD BE THE DAY !!!!!

WELL AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT :
the fish didnt want to play,
i saw many people leaving with empty stringers and baskets , while i was walking the shore line @ 12.30-1.30 most people had nothing some had 1 or 2 and one lady stated "they must have fed them after the stocking so they wouldnt be hungry & get caught"

for all those that wish to chase a freaking stocking truck
maybe you should have more
CONFIDENCE IN YOUR ABILITY TO CATCH A FISH
(show up next week and allow me to school you ) take some pride in you ability and stop chasing a truck full of fish

today was a piece of HUMBLE PIE for all those that decided to chase the truck, i hope you can swallow it

sorry i dont want to be offensive but i am tired of reading about guys who inquire about stocking days and then pound a body of water and brag /gloat about how great of a fisherperson they are

Classic dude, absolutely classic. I'm going to print this out and give it to Andy. I'm looking forward to getting out to the pond to get into some hookjaw action. Here will be the standings.

Pickleboy: 31
Magician: 30
Andy: 1 (but it will be one we hand off to him because our arms are tired)

To The Truck Chasers:

I'm glad though cause it's good for business, which is cool.

Does 2-3 days after count as truck chasing? Damnit!!!!

Re: just a piece of humble pie @ LNL 12-28-05!!

Same shit happened to me on sept 12th w/my son's first fishing trip.
http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=28017 (Labor Day Skunk at Cuyamaca)
Didn't plan it around the stocking schedule, but when we got there they said that they had just dumped a bunch in.
http://www.lakecuyamaca.org/stocking.htm
The fish were jumping all over the lake, but not one bite all day. Only saw one caught on shore too.

I wondered what we were doing wrong. Fish were just getting adjusted I guess.

Hey Doug, my kids dig your avatar.

Re: just a piece of humble pie @ LNL 12-28-05!!

If only people would save just a bit of money and go fishing in Canada for one week. They would be so sold on it. No hatchery trucks, no people, no gates, no hours of operation, no trash. Just miles upon miles of water and shitloads of fish to catch. Do it. You only live once.

Re: just a piece of humble pie @ LNL 12-28-05!!

i have statistically proven that chasing the truck rarely pays off , it does on ocassion work to ones benefit but it is rare
i have also read plenty of documention regarding behavioral patterns of freshly stocked fish

but for those that wish to chase the truck

thank you
for supporting the fishery i love as well as the sport

adam:
i aim to please , glad the kids dig it but jason gave that pickle to me when i was a newbie and i have enjoyed it ever since , my kids dig it as well

Re: just a piece of humble pie @ LNL 12-28-05!!

Doug, I have watched the stocking up in the Sierras for years, you'll never get the stocked fish to bite within 2-3 days after stocking, takes them that long to re-adjust to there new inviroment and they are not being fed every couple of hours like they were in the hatchery, plus they are pumped full of oxygen when they are in the trucks for the trip, which fucks them all up too and it takes a couple of days for them to get there barings.

I've seen it time and time again, when the truck shows up everybody gets down there and try's to catch them and I have to laugh my ass off at all the stuff thats going on and nowbody can figure out why they arn't catching any of these fish. It's just fishing man, takes all kinds.

Muskeyman, a lot of people can't afford to just take off and spend a couple of thousand to go to Canada and fish for a week, they got to take what they can afford man.

Re: just a piece of humble pie @ LNL 12-28-05!!

While fishing Lake Cachuma a few years ago we noticed a sign the Lake staff had posted about the lake being stocked that day. We watched as 4 or 5 cars followed the “stocking truck”. The goal, apparently, was to be there when the stockers were dumped into the lake. Starting from the front gate, the caravan of cars followed the truck as it made several stops but none were at the lake. As the truck continued driving and making periodic stops, the cars began to pull away one by one until there was but one hard core guy left.

I don’t know how far he followed the port-a-potty vacuum truck before he gave up. Visions of brown trout I guess.

I have seen big bass get their share of the stockers as they enter the food chain.

:r ofl:

Andy is finally in the house!!! Good entrance dude, almost as good as your mom's whip cream sundae entrance into my room today.

Can anyone name two reasons why my hands smell like fish and Andy's don't?

1. I actually catch fish and don't farm them.
2. I hold Andy's moms tuna roll like a bowling ball getting ready to go down a bumper lane.

Death_To_ Death_To_ Death_To_ Death_To_

Thanks for the free beer as usual Andy.
