LMB Techniques

I used to fish a carolina rig with either a night crawler or plastic worm. Did OK.
Now I've read a little about drop shots, plugs, crave, etc...

What works! What conditions are ideal?

Depends on time of year

Drop Shot/ Split Shot works year round but isn't much fun in my opionion.

When the fish are staging and moving onto the beds, sight fishing a small tube or lizard can work well. Slow is the key if not sight fishing.

post spawn fish will hit the faster moving baits ie crankbaits spinner baits and top water, aug-oct is topwater time, my favorite is the buzzbait in heavy cover.

If I had to throw 1 bait all year it would be a spinner bait, you can fish them fast, slow, pitch/flip um. I have caught fish year round on spinnerbaits.

More important than the bait you throw is the location you throw it.

Fish will change location on small changes like wind, sun, cloud cover, basic thumb rule is Clear Skies = tight to cover Cloudy/rainy/windy = more in the open

Bass like changes in structure and you will find them on the edges of the change. If you have a whole shore line of tulles I will fish the start and end of the tules and move on. you will find some fish along the tulles but if you are getting them on the ends that is an easy pattern to find on any lake.

If the lake is dropping or in the Deltas case the tide is going out you will find the fish near the "escape" routes and on the edges where they can feed. Remember they ambuse their prey.

A forgotten place to fish is the wind blown shore lines, They are a pain to fish in a boat because of the wind but as the bait gets push into the shore and the surface has a good chop on it the Bass will feel more secure and be more aggressive.

I'm at work and could typr for hours on this but this is the basics

Hey Misuse the best place for any LMB info is by far http://www.bassresource.com/fish/tipsindex.html
They have all answers to most questions...
I personally use the drop shot with Aaron's Magic (Roboworm) and a Gamakatsu EWG hook...
I have lots of plastics that you can use if you want them...
Misc brands but all works the same...
I use the dropshot with a liter from weight to hook of about 6 - 8 inches...
Also depends on where they are suspended...
Might have to go upto 24 inches sometimes...
Let me know if you want some plastics...

HA! Not much fun?

1. Stand up in the boat.
2. Drop the drop shot straight down
3. Grab a beer
4. Stare off into space (pretend like you see something far away)
5. Shake the shit out of your rod tip

What could be more fun?

Stupidest way to fish I've ever tried but catches the fish at Barrett.
