| Potential WR Nile Perch 259lbs - Potential World Record Nile Perch. Or should it be CROCODILE just misses catching angler!
Fascinated to read this article -http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article6880197.ece#
from the on line edition of the UK's Times Newspaper. It covers the capture of a huge 259lb Nile Perch from the River Nile in Uganda, a mile downstream from the famous Murchison Falls - a fish which if ratified will break the existing IGFA All-Tackle record by some 29lbs. But will it?
If you read the article you'll find that the fish in the final stages of the fight was attacked by a CROCODILE. Intriguing in itself in that a catch may be disqualified if, and to quote the IGFA rules: 2. Mutilation to the fish, prior to landing or boating the catch, caused by sharks, other fish, mammals or propellors that remove, or penetrate the flesh.
But there's no mention of crocodiles. There is though a serious point, whether or not it was the same one, but just before this a crocodile came within a whisker of knocking the angler out of the boat. Um ... I don't know whether any fish is worth taking that risk for, especially as a Park Ranger was killed by a croc in that area just weeks earlier.

I have no doubt that the fish will not qualify for an IGFA record..
shark or reptile bit fish don't count... they are very picky..
Still a huge fish in the fresh, or anywhere else..
Tight lines.. Jef f
