UNEXPECTED BATTLE!

Well being land locked sucks whenever fishing comes to mind but I still try to catch everything that swims out here in Colorado. This year has been decent for bass. Great for trout. Crappie was easy. Even had a GREAT couple weeks on 10-20lb channel cats! This trip the mission was simple October the water was cold and I was just hoping to catch some crappie on 2lb test and a tiny rod thats over 40 years old that my dad used as a child! after a couple of small crappie (fun on 2lb and a small gitzit jig) I ended up hooking a nice little largemouth probably pushing a lb and a half. Fun for sure. I didnt expect what happened next! The pictures to the talking but lets just say it was tailhooked. Ran way out into the lake and took well over 30 minutes. First time I ever got armpump on 2lb

Sweet! Looks like a fun little honey hole you got there. Always fun on the 2lb test.

Those are tournament fish in england and france. Yup, I also can't believe they aren't considered gamefish either, great fights and some are even excellent table fare. thanks for the post

Its actually a neighborhood called water valley. Its in Windsor Colorado and is about a 15 year old neighborhood that borders the poudreriver. Its a golf course community and has about 5 lakes that are jugged full of fish. Ive been fishing that dock for the past 10 years and in the beginning had some 30 plus bass mornings all from 1 - 6lb quality. Now the fishing pressure has gone way up over the last few years so its tougher to have an "epic day". Still lots of fish though and this year our goldmine was discovering the catfish bite out there at night! Heres the one cat I kept to eat along with just some examples of some other species we get in good sizes.
