Thumbs up Planning Trip Need Help

My girl and I want to head up the road and do some trout fishing in the Sierras. I have fished my whole life but have never been trout fishing up there. We need help and advise from you pros on deciding where we will stay and where to fish. We want to stay in a cabin (no camping, no equipment) and be able to fish close by or short hike/drive to possibly hit some different water. No boat (it's in Texas) but I do have one float tube. Not too familiar with the different options but hoping you fellow fisherman could help. Thanks in advance. Chris

Parchers Resort above Bishop or Lundy Lake in Lee Vining would fit your needs. Parchers is on the net, I could get you a phone # for Lundy. I spend two weeks every summer in Lundy. They have nice rustic cabins and great hiking and fishing. Parchers is much more commercial but offers the same things. PM if you want more info on Lundy,

Also check out the June Lake loop area, lots of places to stay cabins or hotels. 4 lakes June, Gull, Silver & Grant to fish from and several rivers, also numerous hiking trails all over and Fall color's in full swing. Been going to the Loop for over for 35 years and never have been dissapointed and always look forward in going back.

Twin Lakes Resort in Mammoth. Sits on Twin Lakes with all of the Mammoth Lakes withing a 3 minute drive.

Or, you can rent a nice condo in Mammoth and have those lakes, plus Convict, June Loop, and all of the other great things to do in the eastern Sierra's at your fingertips.

Sierras

Make sure you take your cold weather gear! I was up there at Mammoth Sunday and Monday. Sunday we got heavy snow at times; the high temperature was 34. Monday it was 7 degrees at 7:00 but warmed up to about 50 by mid afternoon. October can be very iffy weather wise but it's very good for the lack of crowds and good fishing.
