Well the past three weeks has been great. All the rivers and streams have been off the hook. Crowley is finally starting to turn on. The Lakes basin are finally in full stocking mode. TWR has hooked and landed several large fish and has huge numbers every day. This has been a crazy spring for us up here. We have had thunderstorms and rain for almost a month now. Most mornings have been warm and sunny and around noon the thunderheads start to build with the winds coming in. The good news is we are finally today coming out of this weather pattern and looking forward to some warm weather.

So with all that being said let me tell you a little about what is going on and where.
The Mammoth Lakes basin was long over due for stocking. The DFG finally showed up last Friday. Alper's started stocking 3 weeks ago and just put in more on Tuesday morning. They are planting 85 pounds in each lake and 250 in Lake Marry. With the new DFG's stocks the lakes are finally starting to improve. Fishing for hold overs has gotten tougher each week.
Twin Lakes is seeing several float tubers each day. They are hooking plently of fish on the fly rods in the shallower waters.
Lake Mary and George have been fishing the best though. Since they are bigger lakes they held more hold overs. Lake Mamie has been really off though. The lake just can't handle the fishing pressure with out being stocked weekly. But this will change now with weekly stocking.
Crowley lake has been off this season. There really hasn't been a consistant bite at all. The good bites have been in a few places though, Big and little hiltons and Sandy Point. The bite around Sandy the last few weeks has been great at times. TWR went out last week for an evening session and did very well on streamers. The fish seem to be through out the entire water columes in 18 to 14 feet of water. Better fishing has been along the shelfs in about 16 feet of water. I would like to say the STREAMER BITE IS ON! The perch are rapping up there spawn and there are small fry starting to show along the weed lines. Within the next few weeks its going to be that time to get your arms ripped off!
Hot Creek is called Hot Creek for a reason and its not because of the warm water. This place has been on fire since the winter and has no signs of slowing down. We are hooking several nice fish each day there and landing numbers unimaginable. The caddis are finally starting to pop off the water in the evenings. With the warm weather ahead of us they should really go full speed.
East Walker = WOW! The fishing here has just been great. The flows have been jumping up and down weekly, but they have been staying around 140 csf's. There are so many different kinds of bugs coming off the water you might drive yourself nutts trying to figure out what they are eating. Its been changing weekly what they are keyed in on and can be tough at times for somebody to come up and fish for a day and do well. So send me an email about a guide trip if your interested.
