Cross Country Fishing Trip on my Motorcycle

So I quit my job to take a fishing trip. It's been a life goal of mine for a while to take a cross country motorcycle fishing trip and I figure that if you wait until circumstances are perfect than you will never get stuff done... so I just figured that now is as good of a time as any.

I am going to take this opportunity to fish all of the places that I have always wanted to go to but never have. I am looking for suggestions for any can't miss places to go.

I am planning to head out to South Carolina first and then work my way north and west. I am going from one coast to the other. The trip is going to be from late June through July. I am bringing my fly rod with me. I am planning on doing mostly fly fishing but I love all types of fishing.

The reason that I am posting this is because I am working with a tight budget. I can't afford expensive guides and hotel rooms. I am hoping to find some people to meet up with to fish at the places I go, and would love it if you would be willing to put me up for a night. If you or anyone else you know might want to meet up for some fishing or put me up for a night please let me know Just send me a message if you’re interested.

I am going to blog about my journey on the FishingRecreation.com fishing blogs in case you're interested in seeing how my journey goes.

Thanks,

Jeff

That's pretty cool Jeff!
Very few things are as important as following a dream, I hope it turns out to be everything you hoped it would be.
I gotta ask why you would only give yourself less than a month & a half to pursue this dream you quite your job over? I'm not much for fly fishing but if you still have any time left when you get to the west coast & find yourself in the LA area let me know:

Awesome! I'm looking forward to reading the blog, and ditto what Josh D said--- when you get to the Sierra's, let me know and we'll 'hook up.'

Sounds like a great trip. Time on the bike and fishing is well spent.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I am driving a little 250 cc honda rebel. I am going to be loading that thing up pretty good... hopefully it won't break down on me - I have already had my fair share of problems with it.

Josh - I don't think that I will be in the LA area but thanks for offering. I read a book about a trip a dude took on a motorcycle across Africa in which he got shot at by natives and he still says that the scariest place he has ever driven his bike is on the freeways around LA! So I will probably pass- I will be too loaded up with gear on a small bike to make driving there safe.

Curtis - I will shoot you an email when I am out near the Sierras and depending on where you are and where you like to fish we'll see if we can't work something out.

Thanks guys!

Jeff

awesome idea but wrong tool for the job,250 cc rebel isnt going to cut it cross country loaded down in my opinion.ive done alot of touring and made several sturgis and cross country runs and i think something along the lines of 650cc(i would go bigger)would be a minimum.think along the lines of a bmw gs 650 and your on the right track.
