| Skinner stripers
Never been there, camping for the weekend with my boys 2 and 13. It's the 2 y/o's first camping trip. Renting a pontoon one of the days. Never fished for stripers, Off the bottom, on the bottom, flyline? Deep, shallow? I'm clueless. Any info would be great

Going next weekend 19-21. Whole, half, 1/3rd? 6lb test ok? 15 too much? I got a 12" AC hatchery trout I'm dying to throw, too much? I got the 3" swimbaits covered. All I want to do is get my kids on some fish. My baby is almost 3 and has been running around the house with his Spongebob fishing pole saying " I got a fish!!! I got a fish!!!" so realistically, I might not get the most opportune moment to chuck the big baits. Still gonna try

Fish the kitty rigs rigs a 1/4 ounce or heavier egg sinker carolina rigged and either anchovy or liver. The stripers they are catching are right near the inlet (always a good place to start) or by the dam. On a side note they aren't catching the bigger stripers onle 1-4 pounders so I wouldn't try throwing the big baits anyways. I would go with the six pound test no more than 10 other than the big lure for that I would say 20-25 minimum some of the regulars at DVL use 30 pound p-line and say anything else is garbage or too light. hope this helps out a little

Boat, start at the inlet. Shore, try just to the right of launch ramp #2. Throw chovies, head cut off, or chicken liver. Just enough weight for the slow fall. 6 to 10lb test is fine. Take bait with you as the store there runs out of chovies and crawlers way too often. Good luck, have fun. Gringo.

Go to the dam on the south end. Stay about 25 to 40 yards off shore (30 to 40 feet deep). Fly line chicken liver and wait. Has been very productive for me over the years. The inlet is also very good this time of year. Salted dines will also work. Also pitch a white four to six inch hammer soft plastic for a larger model. Few caught but is possible. Good luck.

All the info from above are great. I myself fish nothing heavier than 6lb for them stripers. The best bait IMO are fresh sardines. If you can get them it's well worth it. Good luck out there. If you're fishing the inlet sometimes you don't need any weigh. My buddy judt went yesterday and they caught a couple of nice ones and the rest were dinks. The good news was that they got their limit in 3 hours. Goodluck out there.
