thanks for the info. i always see guys fishing with heavy duty gear and figured they keep carp or catfish. alot of the small ponds or places we go you can tell have been hit hard. in twenty years i've only kept 6 huge bluegills to fry up but then i work and dont have mouths to feed either. alot of the bass ive been hooking up with are really skinny so i guess you have to keep a few, no?

What would you keep them for.............eat......that is nasty. Move them to another pond or better yet gather some funds together and buy some crawdads and see how fat they get. Just a suggestion..........but if you eat them hope u got good insurence or an iron stomach

I usually fish many golf ponds in Rancho Santa Fe and have been doing allright through 4" and 5" garys. Does anyone recommend a good way to fish for bass in thick cover? Anyone had the chance to fish south lake in north county?

I have fished there a few times. Tons of small fish. I heard back in the day they used to catch real nice ones. I heard something about they redid it awhile back maybe thats when the bigguns dissapeared

Went to high school in San Marcos. Me and a buddy used to fish the ponds with our float tubes a lot. We used to do really well at Jacks pond (We used to park in a church parking lot and walk in) for nice bass and huge blue gill. There is Shittys pond (up on top of a mountain). There is a water district res that you can see down a canyon when driving to Shittys. Never fished it but looked really good.
I wish I could remember street names and directions better but it has been 15 years, too many good times, and I am 4k miles away.
